Here Is Information On Bender Boards

By Maria Graham

A typical landscape is composed of different areas such as walkways, gardens, flowerbeds, and turf among many others. Each area needs to be separated from the other clearly so as to enhance the beauty of the landscape. The separation of the various areas so as to have clear boarders between them is done using edging materials called bender boards. These boards make just one example of edging materials because there are several others.

Various materials are used to make these products. Wood is one of the materials in common use. There are also other artificial material in use that are designed to look like metal, wood, and stone. Wood offers that natural touch that everyone wants and that is why most boards are made with material that looks like wood or wood itself.

One needs to start by deciding the length of the board they need to complete their project. One can use a piece of thread to easily determine the length of board will be enough. This should be done by running the thread along the length that the board is expected to cover when installed. The thread should be measured to determine how much of edging material to buy. Buying a little extra of the material is advisable in case it becomes necessary.

For more accuracy, stakes should be used to help with running the thread. Most garden stores sell these products so it should not be hard to find them. The existence of different brands of the product makes it necessary to choose wisely. Appropriateness of the product bought to the landscape must be ensured. One should match the product with the color and material of the driveway, walkway, plants, and soil.

Some people prefer to choose the color of the material to match that of the walkway or driveway. The color can also match that of the house. Choosing different products for different sections of the landscape can also help improve the creativity of the landscape.

The process of installing an edging material may depend greatly on the manufacturer of the material. The processes may range from being simple to being very complex. For instance, wooden benders may require to be soaked in water for at many hours before installation. The advantage, of this is that it enhances the flexibility of the board, hence enabling it to bend easily.

After buying the board, one should dig a trench that is at least six inches wide. However, the width can be varied depending on the width of the board. The depth should be slightly more than that of the board. Stakes should be planted every 18 inches to help direct the board during installation. The board should then be planted on the side of the stakes that is facing the lawn.

Nails should be used to attach the board on the upper part of the stake. One should nail the board in a way that it sits at least one inch above the stakes. There will be places where one needs to join the edging materials. This should be done in a way that the boards overlap. The boards should fit well together by having them trimmed appropriately.
