Easy Ways To Get A Photographic Memory

By Andrew Wallace

There are people whose memory baffles you. They can recall something from a year as though it is happening now and in front of their eyes. For some people, this ability is inborn. But is it possible to get a photographic memory or at least enhance your ability to remember? Here are some of the tips given by experts.

Your lifestyle affects your general health which has an impact on your ability to remember. Tackling depression, stress, anxiety, anger, and such conditions will significantly boost your retention. You do not have to result to medication. Spending more time on activities that are fun or those that involve body and mind alertness like yoga and tai chi is recommended. You may also increase your socialization hours to avoid depression.

Brain activity makes recalling easier and expands your ability to retain more. Just like the muscles on your body, your brain requires exercise to boost its sharpness and capacity. Some brain activities that would boost your ability include playing board games, reading thought provoking books, newspapers, taking on a new language and enrolling in a new course. Crossword puzzles and code words are also regarded as brain teasers.

The mind relies on blood flow to effectively function. Exercises ensure that blood flows to all parts of your body including the brain. Your brain will get more blood and oxygen which boosts memory. 30 minutes workout on five out of seven days in a week is recommended. Lifestyle options like taking the stairs instead of the lift may also help with blood circulation and fitness. Ten minutes walk or a ride on the bike also helps to boost blood circulation.

Alcohol has been condemned as a brain cell killer. It affects the receptors in your brain causing memory lapse. The recommended consumption is only two glasses of wine each day. With this, your body can maintain a healthy balance. It has however been revealed that moderate drinkers delay or even escape Alzheimers by the age of 65 years. This therefore means that alcohol has double effects but excessive consumption is discouraged by all means.

Experts suggest that recalling sometimes has little or no relation to the health of your brains. Distractions in your environment make it difficult to store the information in your health. The mind is incapable of isolating what is important and storing it. To remember better, you are advised to minimize these distractions and focus on a single issue.

Remembering can be simplified through association. This means relating a place, object, person, etc. Try to imagine why a book would be entitled The Green Road. How would the highway home appear if it were green? Imagine what keys would do if they were placed near the door. Would they hide or try to look for a safer place? Such associations make it easier to recall.

Other ways of remembering things include repeating the names or attributes whenever they are mentioned. You may also chunk or group items together or split large figures or lists. Of greater importance is the health of your brain and the environment in which the mind registers what is to be remembered.
