So this article is written for the purpose of providing the ways on how to do a simple Oriental rug cleaning CA.

There are three parts in this method. These include the precautions, quick cleaning, and deep cleaning. For the first part, the label of rug must be checked. Labels are often placed at the backing, so you may lift it to see the label. Different materials also require different finesse when being cleaned. Carpets made from wool or cotton generally are more durable and can be cleaned easily.

The carpet is needed to be vacuumed regularly, preferably, once a week. This will lift dirt and debris, which later result to having an new look appearance. It will also help in preventing the wool fibers from packing down. Rugs should not be placed to an area directed from the heat of the sun. This can cause the colors to fade and damage. Testing if material is colorfast may be done. It is done by applying water into small portion and tapping some white cloth to it.

Next is to move the furniture every 6 months which are placed above the carpets to avoid the fibers from being damaged. The second part is to do the quick cleaning. Clean the rug using a broom having straw bristles. Avoid rubbing the broom to avoid damage. Vacuum both the front and back parts of the carpet to remove the excess hair, dirt, and abrasives.

Shaking the rug can also be done in order to remove the dust particles. But if the material is big, you may hang it into the clothesline, beat it by the use of hands or other things. For liquid spill outs, avoid some stains by immediately removing it by cold water, blot it up unto the stain.

The deep cleaning part includes vacuuming both sides of rug. Bringing it outside the house or in a wider area with flat surfaces is applicable. Vacuum the material until the dirt and the debris will be lifted. After, shake again to remove additional dirt and debris. Spray both of the sides with cold water.

Get a bucket and fill it with a cold water and liquid detergent. A one gallon of water mixed with 3 tablespoons of soap is enough. Test the solution by placing an amount of it to a small portion using a sponge or brush. Wait for ten minutes and see the result.

If that portion is cleaned, do the process to the other portions and rinse both sides of the rug with water after. Make sure that the suds are washed off properly. Over wetting of these may result to the growth of molds. Allow the carpet to dry first outside before placing it back inside.
