By Frank Ward

Many women after reaching a certain age all they desire or want is to have a kid of their own. Many couples marry with the aim of getting children. It is the desire of every woman to conceive and bring forth a healthy and a bouncing baby. But the happiness of getting a child may be short lived because of mood swings. Postpartum Doula Dallas has been a common condition that many women are today experiencing.

There are a number of postnatal moods and also anxiety disorders. The types range from postnatal blues, postnatal Psychosis to postpartum depression commonly abbreviated as PPD. The most common is postnatal blues. It is estimated that more than eighty percent of pregnant women undergo this condition after giving birth. It is common for women who are giving birth to their first child.

It is also approximated that about ten percent of young mothers suffer from postpartum depression. This PPD is actually experienced in the first year. The condition was known to be as a result of loss of blood during delivery process which lowers the level of hormones in their body. In the case of Postnatal Psychosis, the situation is very severe but not likely to suffer from Psychosis.

Few days or even weeks after delivering your infant, many women experience or undergo through some changes in their bodies. The changes are as a result of their bodies trying to get back to the non-pregnant condition. These changes are normally not the same for all women. Different women experience or undergo through different changes from other women. The physical changes that may be experienced include sore muscles, afterpains and lochia.

Of all the three mood swings or anxiety disorders, postnatal blues is considered the most common. This postnatal blues is at the same time the least severe despite the fact that it is the most common. It occurs probably two weeks after giving birth. The symptoms of afterbirth blues include irritability, fluctuating mood, anxiety and also increased emotional reactivity.

There are some few things one should avoid if they suspect to have postpartum depression. First avoid watching scary things or hearing scary stories. These scary things can really torment them. After delivering, it is prudent that you stop carrying out many duties or avoid an overscheduled life. PPD arises when normal symptoms of baby blues become exaggerated basically to a point of mania.

If the symptoms of baby blues increase or prolong that might be actually a precursor to something greater like PPD or Psychosis. Women should be very careful with such changes and take precautions not to let baby blues to graduate to PPD. The next common illness is postpartum depression. It is wise to stay around positive people during postpartum period to avoid falling into PPD.

PPD is known to come about after four weeks of delivery. The condition can at least go for three months. The condition is also known to prolong further than three months to even fifteen months. The last type is Postpartum Psychosis basically not common but very chronic or severe. Symptoms of this illness include delusions, disorganized behavior, agitation, poor or low insights, hallucination and cognitive impairment.
